Since its release, I’ve probably listenend to Wednesday’s bittersweet and punch-drunk ode to a love that exists perpetually between ripeness and rot over a hundred times, and not once have I thought, “You know what would somehow make this already-perfect song even more perfect? A DJ Sabrina remix!” Not because it sounded like a bad idea, but because this isn’t a crossover that ever could’ve crossed my mind.
This standout from the collection of “Bleeds” B-sides brings together two indie icons from seemingly disparate worlds. In DJ Sabrina’s sun-drenched production, Karly Hartzman’s musings seem even further in the distance, even more primed for nostalgia, and don’t even get me started on how dreamy that lap steel sounds among synth washes and pulses of bass. Two great tastes that unexpectedly taste great together.
