Born from East London’s collaborative warehouse scene, green star’s fresh take on immersive, shoegazey noise rock has made them a band to watch. Having made a name for themselves packing out London’s small venues with “sweaty, grimy, invigorating shows” (So Young Magazine), the band released their debut EP “bleeding swirls” in 2025 to acclaim from the likes of BBC Radio 6 Music and Rolling Stone UK. green star’s sound wraps lyrical romance between swirling blooms of feedback and fuzz, with forthcoming EP “silver + dust” pushing their ever-evolving sonic horizons into more expansive, darker realms.
The band Green Star is a Spanish-American band formed in London,. In a 21st century update of the age-old story of bands forming via newspaper ads, Spanish-born, London-based musicians Pedro Soler and Albert De Torre found Lilah Bobak, the LA-born singer for their band Green Star, on a website called joinmyband.com.
“My friend told me about it and I was like, ‘Wow, that seems really sketchy’,” Bobak laughs. “She was like, ‘It’s usually bad, but sometimes it works’. I stopped checking the profile, but months later, Pedro found me on Instagram and it all went from there.”
Pedro: We all come from different backgrounds. Lilah does contemporary dance. Alberto is more into production, and he and I came to do graphic and media design at University. We had the same urge to start a band. We come from very sunny places, so it’s quite funny that have ended up in London.
Their debut EP “Bleeding Swirls” was released on May 2, 2025, and includes tracks like “Four-O-Five” and “Spiders Without Eyes”. The EP showcases a unique blend of gloomy textures and bright melodies, drawing inspiration from various musical genres.
