Mourn is a very young quartet formed from the friendship of Jazz Rodríguez Bueno and Carla Pérez Vas—both born in 1996 in ElMaresme, Catalonia, Spain. The duo armed themselves with inspiration from PJ Harvey, Patti Smith, Sebadoh and Sleater Kinney and began writing material, which they quickly released, raw and acoustic, on their YouTube channel.
Mourn writes fast, loud, noisy post-punk. They use this format to tap into teenage frustration and anger about the vapid nature of their peers, intellectual vacancy of world leaders, and racism/nationalism in their home country of Spain and abroad. Mourn spent the last few years playing in their own region but made their first trip to the US this year and we’re confident there’s more to come from this young, exciting band.
