A lush dreamscape of delicate piano and soft soaring vocals, “Bottle Rockets” is contemplation at its most enchanting. A moment frozen in crystal clarity, Janssen sings of homespun observation in a way that’s at once refreshing and innately familiar.
Conjuring “scenes of lights and voices in the backyard, superstitious nights of hide and seek with the neighbor kids, sparklers and birthday cake,” the imagery is as vivid as the track is ethereal.
Mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, Future Islands) and featuring Marla Hansen (Sufjan Stevens, The National), “Bottle Rockets” is the first taste of Janssens forthcoming third album, expected for release next year.
