The New Brunswick noisemakers in Screaming Females have steadily been on the ascent for some time, but it took the release of “Rose Mountain” to shine some well-deserved mainstream attention on not just the band, but its guitar-hero frontwoman, Marissa Paternoster. “Rose Mountain” is the kind of big, bombastic rock record fans clamor for, and Paternoster’s guitar wizardry only helps further upend the archaic notion that rock ’n’ roll is a man’s game.
