Pennsylvania rockers The Districts say their upcoming LP “A Flourish and a Spoil” is “about how things grow but eventually fall apart, kind of like a loss of innocence, the album track “Peaches”, which “ties in with the idea of moving away from home and into Philly.” which is set for release on 9th February 2015 through Fat Possum Records.
Resonating with a nostalgic charm, ‘Peaches’ is visceral yet melodic, as decidedly 90’s fuzz is pacified by a huge sing along chorus, culminating in a track that sits in the perfect middle ground between slacker-rock and pop, with modern bluesy elements thrown in for good measure. The track itself finds the quartet approaching these heady subjects with true rock and roll resilience, forging a triumphant medley of unrelenting drums and guitars that swing and sway like classical strings. “We won’t throw these memories away,” emotes frontman Rob Grote, mirroring the intensity and fortitude that abounds throughout this anthemic jam.
