Plus avant-pop legends The Magnetic Fields, indie-pop oddball Aldous Harding, the uncompromising and otherworldly Perfume Genius poet-guitarist soul rebels from Mali Tinariwen.

Since we can, once again, cast our gaze across the Atlantic, we’re thrilled to welcome back our Americana friends from across the pond – Kurt Vile & The Violators, The Weather Station, Cassandra Jenkins, Kevin Morby, and more

We’re also thrilled to have the likes of black midi, Lucy Dacus, Greentea Peng, Gabriels, and many many more.

Gold Sounds Festival returns to Leeds on Saturday 30th April 2022, now bigger than ever, the event will take place at both Leeds University Union Stylus as well as the familiar surroundings of Leeds’ famous Brudenell Social Club. Hosting some of the most exciting current acts from the world of post-punk, noise, garage rock and outsider indie, for an all day event across three stages to kick start the 2022 festival season.

The latest issue of Record Collector will be available from Thursday. It will feature artists mired in space-rock, krautrock, kosmische and avant-drone. And that’s just Hawkwind. Elsewhere, you will find the great Max Bell interviewing Jackson Browne, David Stubbs meeting Popol Vuh, Rob Hughes tentatively greeting Aimee Mann such is her facility with the art of pugilism, Mark Beaumont speaking to The Wedding Present, Lois Wilson awed to encounter The Flamingos’ Tommy Hunt, plus reviews of ‘new’ and NEW albums by Joy Division and Johnny Marr, Tears For Fears and Eels and so much more.
