The classic album with its glam Rock influences ZIGGY STARDUST was recorded at Trident Studios while the recordings of the album “Hunky Dory” were still devolping, Bowie was writing the Ziggy album this was to become David Bowie’s fifth album release,
He famously killed off Ziggy at his peak at the London Hammersmith Odean performance on July 3rd 1973 the band including Mick Ronson on guitars,Trevor Bolder on bass, Mick Woodmansey on drums with Bowie playing almost everything else. Bowie’s presence and energy to his character Ziggy made this album from the opening bars of “Five Years” to the dying chords of “Rock and Roll Suicide” is rock history. In between there is the hard driving guitars of “Suffragette City”, “Lady Stardust” alledgedly about Marc Bolan, “Hang on to Yourself” is the punkiest song written before Punk began. Its Weirdly beautiful, compelling and Completely worthy this was a concept album about the story of a fictional Rockstar named Ziggy Stardust.
