Yesterday at the The Bowery Ballroom in New York City, Ryan Adams was amongst a cast of musicians who took the stage at the Neil Fest, a show in which performers paid tribute to the tunes of Neil Young. The Bowery Ballroom venue in NYC holds an annual tribute to Neil Young, titled what else, NeilFest. Yesterday, on the first of two nights, Ryan Adams covered 2 tunes accompanied by Norah Jones on the second. During the performance he covered a few classic Young tracks “Cinnamon Girl,” and “Old Man” with an assist from Norah Jones, and “Helpless,” led by vocalist Valerie June and featuring cameos from Body/Head and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ guitarist Nick Zinner.
Adams hammered out an excellent rendition of “Cinnamon Girl,” before having Norah Jones join him for a tender version of “Old Man.” You can watch both magical moments.

The all-star lineup of musicians converged on the Bowery Ballroom to pay tribute to Neil Young. The occasion Neil Fest, a two-night benefit show that’s raising money for the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund on behalf of the Jameson Neighborhood Fund. Last night’s show was the first of the two nights, and its lineup included Ryan Adams, Norah Jones, Jakob Dylan, Body/Head, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner. A few videos have shown up on the internet, and they include authoritative, stripped-down version of “Cinnamon Girl” cover from Ryan Adams. Then Norah Jones sang backup on that one, and she also joined Adams for a duet version of “Old Man.” Jakob Dylan took on “Southern Man.” And Valerie June led the night’s entire lineup through a singalong version of “Helpless.” .
He was later joined by Body/Head, the duo consisting of Kim Gordon and Bill Nace, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ Nick Zinner. The show closed with ‘Helpless’ performed as a collaborative finale led by Valerie June.
