The Linedots

The Linedots only seem to come out after the midnight hour. A London duo with a hushed, subdued sound, their evocative noir pop arrives lit purely in shades of monochrome. This London duo consisting of Evangeline Ling and Kevin Emre, and their debut single ‘Small Talk’ sure does tickle us – it’s all layers of laconic, hypnotic vocals set against dynamic rhythms (is that a violin overlapped by guitar?) and woozy synths.

New cut ‘Indigo’ continues their journey, and it’s another remember of the vivid raw potential that the band have within them. Sublime downbeat pop music

Evangeline Ling’s vocal is sheer relaxed cool, while the boom-bap beat rubs up alongside a slight tropical flavour in those sharp melodic tones.

Talking about the track, the elusive pair say: “‘Small Talk’ is about everything and nothing at all – it is up to the listener to decipher their own meaning. This is why the book is always better than the film.” We’d suggest that this track is better than the book and film combined.
