Rising group Vaults have posted new track online – listen to ‘Cry No More’

Music can never be entirely devoid of context – each note needs to be understand in relation to its background, its method of construction. However sometimes you just have to use your ears and dive in.

Vaults are a mysterious new group, with only a few links managing to locate themselves in our direction. The music, though, speaks for itself. New track ‘Cry No More’ is a beautifully intricate construction, with those cyclical opening notes sounding like Steve Reich’s more melodic moments.

The song itself has a chiming, epic feel, not unlike CHVRCHES. Yet musically, emotionally, it feels as if it resides in a universe of its own – a starting point, with Vaults‘ career beginning to spiral out in new directions.
