CITY and COLOUR released their fourth album last year THE HURRY and the HARM, singer songwriter Dallas Green used some wordplay to create the bandname as he didn’t want to release anything under his own name, therefore the city Dallas, and a colour Green became the alias for his music. melodic and acoustic rock. grab a listen to the ITunes live session
The name City & Colour is a play on the name of Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green, who serves as virtually the only member of the band (where he plays guitar, bass, banjo, harmonica, piano, and drums, along with singing). City & Colour has had four studio albums in the last eight years, which is an impressive feat on it’s own, but when you read the reviews, you can see that they have each contained some sort of special effect that made each of them exceptional on their own. Having seen the AUGUSTINES a fair few times this is their sound, anthem type rock’n’roll delivered honestly for a band that have worked hard to gain a loyal following they put 100% into the live shows
As a music blogger, I always try and stay ahead of the game when it comes to picking up on singles as soon as they’ve been released; I am however much worse when it comes to keeping on-top of album releases. Having covered their early singles, I’ve only just managed to listen to Augustines self-titled second album, which for the record is an absolute triumph. Standing out amongst a pile of diamonds,
Don’t You Look Back
, track number five on the album is a direct, marauding rock anthem with so much fire in its belly. Packed full of intense guitar riffs and gravely vocals,
Don’t You Look Back
is rock at its nostalgic finest.
