Talking Heads founder David Byrne has released another new song from his upcoming album “Who Is the Sky?” The track is called “She Explains Things to Me” and can be heard below.

“Who Is the Sky?” will be released on September. 5th. Just over a week later, Byrne will launch an international tour that will last until March of 2026.

“Who Is the Sky?” marks Byrne’s first new music since 2018’s “American Utopia”. There are a number of guests that contributed to the new album, including St. Vincent, Hayley Williams of Paramore, Tom Skinner of the Smile and more. It was produced by Kid Harpoon, who has recently worked on releases by Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, Harry Styles and Shawn Mendes, among others.

“At my age, at least for me, there’s a ‘don’t give a shit about what people think’ attitude that kicks in,” Byrne said in a previous press release. “I can step outside my comfort zone with the knowledge that I kind of know who I am by now and sort of know what I’m doing. That said, every new set of songs, every song even, is a new adventure. There’s always a bit of, ‘how do I work this?’ I’ve found that not every collaboration works, but often when they do, it’s because I’m able to clearly impart what it is I’m trying to do. They hopefully get that, and as a result, we’re now joined together heading to the same unknown place.”

The second single from ‘Who Is The Sky?’, the new album from David Byrne out September 5th on Matador Records.

Robert Plant will release his first album since 2021’s Alison Krauss collaboration, “Raise the Roof”

“Saving Grace” marks Plant’s first solo album since 2017’s “Carry Fire”. The nine-song LP, recorded with his new band Saving Grace, features covers of songs by Moby Grape (“It’s a Beautiful Day Today”), Blind Willie Johnson (“Soul of a Man”) and the Low Anthem (“Ticket Taker”).

You can hear their cover of the Minnesota indie-rock band Low’s “Everybody’s Song” Written by Mimi Parker, Zak Micheletti, Alan Sparhawk below. Plant had previously covered a pair of Low songs, “Silver Rider” and “Monkey,” on 2010’s “Band of Joy” album.

Plant said “We laugh a lot, really,” he said in a press release announcing the album. “I think that suits me. I like laughing. You know, I can’t find any reason to be too serious about anything. I’m not jaded. The sweetness of the whole thing …The upcoming album, will be Robert Plant’s 12th solo record, is named after the band he has performed with over the past six years: singer Suzi Dian, drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo and string player Matt Worley, and cellist Barney Morse-Brown.

Robert Plant and Saving Grace perform Low’s “Everybody’s Song,” from the upcoming album, ‘Saving Grace,’ due September 26th on Nonesuch Records.

Jeff Tweedy The Wilco frontman will share the 30-song new album “Twilight Override” on September 26th via dBpm. Tweedy has today released four new songs: “Enough,” “One Tiny Flower,” “Out in the Dark,” and “Stray Cats in Spain.” .

Tweedy will support “Twilight Override” with a full-band tour of North America and Europe. The North American shows take place in October, and the European dates are scheduled for February. Tweedy recorded “Twilight Override” his follow-up to 2020’s Love Is the King—at his Chicago studio, the Loft. The album has contributions from James Elkington, Finom’s Sima Cunningham Macie Stewart, and Liam Kazar, along with Tweedy’s sons, Spencer and Sammy.

“When you choose to do creative things, you align yourself with something that other people call God,” Tweedy said in a press statement. “And when you align yourself with creation, you inherently take a side against destruction. You’re on the side of creation. And that does a lot to quell the impulse to destroy. Creativity eats darkness.”

Tweedy added: “Sort of an endless buffet these days—a bottomless basket of rock bottom. Which is, I guess, why I’ve been making so much stuff lately. That sense of decline is hard to ignore, and it must be at least a part of the shroud I’m trying to unwrap. The twilight of an empire seems like a good enough jumping-off point when one is jumping into the abyss.”

“‘Twilight’ sure is a pretty word, though,” he continued. “And the world is full of happy people in former empires, so maybe that’s not the only source of this dissonance. Whatever it is out there (or in there) squeezing this ennui into my day, it’s fucking overwhelming. It’s difficult to ignore. “Twilight Override” is my effort to overwhelm it right back. Here are the songs and sounds and voices and guitars and words that are an effort to let go of some of the heaviness and up the wattage on my own light. My effort to engulf this encroaching nighttime (nightmare) of the soul.”

Jeff Tweedy’s new (triple) album titled “Twilight Override” will be available worldwide September 26th, 2025.

NEW DAD – ” Altar “

Posted: July 12, 2025 in MUSIC

NewDad, fronted by enigmatic songwriter and vocalist Julie Dawson, are an alternative three piece from Galway, Ireland. Their influences vary from legendary bands like The Cure, Pixies, R.E.M., and My Bloody Valentine, to more contemporary acts, such as Big Thief and Beabadoobee.

NewDad make music that confronts the horrors of the modern world. Julie’s lyrics find beauty in her pain, with a unique perspective on her generational despair that resonates broadly. With writing that regularly evokes imagery of water and religion, she reflects on the band’s upbringing on the West Coast of Ireland through her songwriting.

‘Altar’ is the second album from “Ireland’s next great guitar band”, and the third album from their prolific frontwoman Julie Dawson in less than 2 years. It’s a grungey alt-rock future classic that jolts between anger-fueled anthemics on the one hand, and darkly intimate and melancholic introspection on the other. They’ve built a dedicated cult following with their acclaimed debut ‘Madra’ and if they’re good enough for the godfather of goth they’re good enough for you…

I liked the NewDad album, that’s been on in my car for a long time” (Robert Smith)

Our new album “Altar” will be out on 19th September.

WETLEG – ” Moisturizer “

“Moisturizer” is the bold, second album from Wet Leg, the Isle of Wight five-piece founded by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers. Joined by Ellis Durand, Henry Holmes, and Joshua Mobaraki, Wet Leg has spent the past few years on the road, evolving into a feral, electrifying live force. This new record captures that energy, delivering a sound that’s tighter, bolder, and more self-assured, yet still brimming with the same quick wit and raw, unrefined energy.

Isolated in a remote house in the countryside, “Moisturizer” was written in a creative frenzy, diving into themes of obsession and all-consuming love. While their 2022 debut earned Grammy wins and chart-topping success, moisturizer brings the bite: brash guitars, heavy beats, and a fearless devotion to feeling everything—all at once.

ROCKET – ” Wide Awake “

Posted: July 10, 2025 in MUSIC

Los Angeles, CA’s  band Rocket have announced their highly anticipated debut album, “R is for Rocket“, due out Oct ober 3rd via Transgressive Records / Canvasback. The lead single “Wide Awake” is a jagged, fuzzed-out introduction to the band’s levelled up sound, balanced out by vocalist Alithea Tuttle’s sweetly hypnotic vocals.

“R is for Rocket” is about relationships, the most important part of life; relationships with your friends, your parents, your girlfriend or boyfriend, and most importantly your relationship with yourself,” share the band. “‘Wide Awake’. is the perfect balance of all the elements of this record, after years in the making and countless versions, we’re excited to finally share it.”

Comprised of Tuttle (vocals, bass), Baron Rinzler (Guitar), Cooper Ladomade (Drums) and Desi Scaglione (Guitar), Rocket have had a busy few years. The Los Angeles crew with friendships stretching back to their childhood formed in 2021, convening in an unmarked shed to put their debut EP to tape. Despite it being the first time any of them had seriously approached the idea of a ‘band,’ they seemed to arrive fully formed with combustible, airtight songs.

R is for Rocket“, the quartet’s remarkable debut album, is a joyride through sonic terrain that is gloriously loud, anthemic, bombastic and beautiful, with instantly captivating songs that achieve the rare feat of evoking nostalgia while sounding completely new. The band’s jagged, fuzzed-out sound has antecedents in ‘90s guitar bands like Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine, but Rocket are doing something uniquely their own with those touchstones. It’s no wonder they are widely considered one of the most promising guitar-forward bands of their generation.

While the album builds on the energy of their critically lauded “Versions of You” EP, “R is for Rocket” is also hugely evolutionary, elevating the band’s craft in major ways. By the time they began work on the album in early 2024, they’d been on a near constant touring schedule, spending countless hours on the road opening for their heroes Ride, Sunny Day Real Estate and Silversun Pickups, and writing in their modest studio – a back house in drummer Cooper Ladomade’s parents’ yard – both refining and expanding their sound.

Rocket will embark on their debut US headline tour, kicking off in October after a run of August dates supporting The Smashing Pumpkins across the UK

The set includes a cover of the Falcons’ No. 17 1959 hit “You’re So Fine,” Wood’s first new music since 2010’s “I Feel Like Playing”. The set also features a new essay by Paul Sexton with extensive interviews.

Wood is celebrating his 50th anniversary with the Rolling Stones. He’s released seven solo studio albums along the way. “Fearless: Anthology 1965-2025” begins with his first groups, the Birds and the Creation, when Wood was still a teen in the mid-’60s before moving on to work with Jeff Beck and the Faces.

The set’s other key song writing collaborators include Rod Stewart (the title track from Stewart’s 1971 LP “Every Picture Tells a Story“), Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top (2010’s “Thing About You” from “I Feel Like Playing), Ronnie Lane (the beloved title song from Faces’ 1973 finale “Ooh La La“) and George Harrison (1974’s “Far East Man” from “I’ve Got My Own Album to Do”). His cover of “Seven Days” by Bob Dylan originally appeared on 1979’s “Gimme Some Neck”.

Fearless: Anthology 1965-2025″ is rounded out by four new songs: the original “Mother of Pearl” and updates of “You’re So Fine,” Allen Toussaint’s fun R&B gem “A Certain Girl” (with Pretenders stalwart Chrissie Hynde) and Hopeton Lewis’ rocksteady favourite “Take It Easy.” Imelda May is featured on “You’re So Fine.” These sessions were co-produced by Sean Genockey and Wood’s son Jesse.
