Last week at a show in Dublin, and the day before this new album came out, we played it from start to finish in front of a crowd who’d won tickets, but had no clue what to expect, they’d never heard the songs before. No one had. Didn’t dawn on my until I walked out on stage that no one knew what was going to happen…. including me. I was so nervous to begin. Then we got to this song, it’s called “National”, and it all just clicked and made sense.

Over the summer we will be performing a handful of shows where we begin by playing the new record from start to finish, just like the show last week. Then in the second half of the night we’ll play a full set of songs drawn from the rest of my career to date. I can’t think of a better way to share this record with everyone than to do it like this.
