Ummagma is a Canadian-Ukrainian duo comprised of Alexx Kretov and Shauna McLarnon. A mixture of the ethereal and ambient with sublime resonance, beats and rhythm to create richly layered soundscapes.
Ummagma released two CD albums (“Ummagma” and “Antigravity”). Although this music encompasses several music genres — indie rock, post-rock, dream pop, ambient/ethereal, space rock and progressive rock — there is a common remarkable theme, elevating atmosphere and stirring effect in Ummagma’s music.
Comparisons have been made to Cocteau Twins, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, AIR, Sigur Ros, Stereolab, Michael Brook, Lush, Mercury Rev, Talk Talk, Snow Patrol, Ultravox, Medicine, Deerhoof, Ecstasy of St. Teresa, Asobi Seksu, The Sundays, Exitmusic and M83, but everyone will surely find something truly and exclusively UMMAGMA in their sounds.
