Charlottetown based pop rock band Paper Lions were destined to make music. Their sound is of fun production that undeniably excites human emotions. Their resilient and energetic attitude has helped them undergo a name change, several albums and many EPs, three touring vans, and one moose, as well as landing several music nominations and TV features. Very soon, as in fall of 2016, the four-piece band will be releasing their album titled Full Colour. Today, they share with all of us the premiere of the third single from that album. “Born To Rule” (recorded with Colin Buchanan and mixed by Andrew Maury) has a solid nostalgic foundation that is driven by polished vocals. These two ingredients create a dreamlike state of mind that strikes deep with listeners. Honestly, the track feels as if it’s the love child of M83 and The 1975. Lyrically, the song expresses “both darkness and light, plaintive and joyful, a melancholic anthem with big demands and an off-kilter beat that still makes you wanna dance.”
