Another recommendation for ones to watch in 2016, I first witnessed Flight Brigade on stage by chance several years ago. Although they impressed me at the time, the wait was perhaps a good idea. The Hampshire-based 7-piece have honed their sound into something quite astounding; an electro pop outfit who are immediately accessible, yet also comprehensive in their development away from the folk rock bracket. The Stealing Fire EP and a short headline tour set tongues wagging at the end of 2015, and a debut album has been promised shortly.
When James Taylor fanatic Patrick Baines stopped his VW van to pick up a pair of hitchhikers clutching instruments, he was only hoping for a little conversation during his trip. Little did he know it was the start of a musical journey that would stretch four decades and – through their children – produce one of Britain’s most exciting bands. The 7-piece’s sound certainly ‘packs a big punch’ and ‘they are gaining momentum’ which makes their future bright.
The band released their new EP, “Stealing Fire” on the 23rd October to coincide with their UK Autumn tour.
Describing themselves as a rock band made up of a husband and wife, two sisters and four dudes, it is passion that drives the band. Their live performance, ‘sweeps up a maelstrom of infectious energy’ and they’ve been in high demand, playing 16 festival dates including Bestival, The Great Escape and three gigs at Glastonbury.
