Laura Welsh first rose to our attention as a singer on Gorgon City’s 2014 single “Here For You,” but the Staffordshire singer broke out on her own on her tenderly crafted debut album.

Not content to let 2015 fade without new music, however, Welsh’s been holed up in studios in Los Angeles, London, and Stockholm working on her follow-up, and today she’s debuting “Sex & Violence,” a no-holds barred portrait of what happens behind closed doors. The song’s piano through-line weeps from measure to measure, Welsh’s voice pushing against her own chest as it escapes her lips.

so hearing new music was on the horizon, obviously our ears pricked up! Welsh’s debut record Soft Control was criminally underrated, however with the singer picking up a legion of new fans thanks to her Undiscovered inclusion into the 50 Shades soundtrack back in February, 2016 could well mark a turning point into the Londoner’s career. This is definitely one you need to engage yourself with – with a soaring chorus, it won’t be long before Laura Welsh is a name your friends will be muttering around in droves.
