We’re willing to bet that Broken Back will have no trouble following Vance Joy into what cheery, folk-like niche has been getting widespread attention lately. Just a few months ago, we were introduced to the Parisian band’s light, upbeat blend of indie, pop, and house with their fantastic single, “Halcyon Birds”, and now they’ve returned with a four-track debut EP, Dear Misfortune, Mother of Joy, which could very well shoot them into a greater-reaching spotlight.
In addition to “Halcyon Birds”—one of our favorite tracks of the past few months—we’ve included two of their summery new efforts in “Young Souls” and “Happiest Man On Earth”, both of which have at least as much appeal as their first. As warm weather begins to sweep across the Northern Hemisphere in the spring, Dear Misfortune, Mother of Joy will act as a brilliant complement to the pleasant temperatures, so be sure to get your copy of the EP on iTunes and letting it usher in the more pleasant times ahead.
