You might have fell for the Lykke Li-esque electronic beauty of Sea Change, aka Oslo based Ellen A.W. Sundes, with her previous singles ‘Bursting’, ‘Let’s Dance’ and ‘Bridges’ which were released throughout 2014, and which built her something of a reputation for icy synth-pop, and led to a slew of festival appearances, including The Great Escapein Brighton.

She has an album, Breakage, out on February 23rd, and ahead of it, she has unveiled a new track, “We Run”. Described by Sundes as being “…about everything we are aiming for in our lives and how choking those things can be. And the freedom we would have if we were able to run away from all those hopes and expectations and just be”.

Throughout the song there’s static chords and notes quivering in the mix of things, and fragments of melody repeating again and again, giving the whole thing this almost hypnotic feeling, these close chords that come and go in the background the only sense of warmth in there. Over the top, Sundes’ vocal, edgy but beautiful throughout, casts rather a magical spell over everything.
