Before I heard the album in full, I said this about Flagland’s singles leading up to the release:
From what I can tell so far, “Love Hard”is a can’t miss record, whether it be to witness a dexterous band pulling off multiple personalities with ease or to hear a genre-bending dark horse that has the potential to be one of the year’s best. We should all listen hard.It certainly turns out that my dark horse/potential could be one of the year’s best. Flagland is this year’s most slept on band and Love Hard is the most slept on record.
Flagland are impossible to peg and define in the best possible way. “Love Hard” is all over the place, it’s what brought me back to it hundreds of times. Overwrought emotions, panicked vocals swirling around solidly built rhythmic tension, and straight-forward fuzz-pop anthems that you can’t get out of your head– Flagland does it all and does it so well.
